What is gender-based and sexual violence (GBSV)?
Gender-based and sexual violence, or GBSV, includes any violent behavior or act directed at a person because of their sex or gender.
These acts can be physical, such as hitting or forced gestures; psychological, such as insults or threats; or verbal, such as humiliating language.
GBSV includes harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, and gender-based discrimination.
While these violences disproportionately affect women, anyone can be a victim, regardless of their gender.
Combating GBSV is about promoting equality, safety, and respect for everyone.
