What are family caregivers?

Family caregivers are people who provide regular support to a relative or loved one who is ill, living with a disability, or in a situation of dependency.

They may provide practical help, emotional support, or assistance with administrative matters.

Taking on a caregiving role can be demanding and challenging on a daily basis. Recognising and supporting family caregivers helps promote solidarity, quality of life, and respect for all.

Our initiatives

Project: Creating a guide for family caregivers

The aim is to help family caregivers better understand their role and the support available to them, in order to ease their daily lives.
Caring for a loved one can be demanding, even when it feels natural. This role deserves recognition and support.

At Icube, a guide is currently being developed to help family caregivers better understand their role and the support available to them.
It will clearly explain what it means to be a family caregiver, offer concrete examples to help readers recognise themselves in this role, and present the available forms of support — whether financial, practical, or personal.

The goal is to create a clear, easy-to-read, and useful resource that helps family caregivers find guidance and know where to turn.
This guide is intended to support those who care for a loved one on a daily basis, often without fully realising the importance of the role they play.

Half-day support session for family caregivers

A half-day session was held to meet with family caregivers and gain a better understanding of their daily lives.

These discussions allowed participants to share real-life experiences, ask questions, express concerns, and exchange practical tips and ideas.

Everyone could talk about their own situation — what helps them, what wears them down, and what they sometimes lack..

Above all, this session helped focus on the human side, build connections, and generate ideas on how to better support those who take on this role, often quietly but with a significant impact.
