ICube’s organizational structure

Spread across 4 sites in Strasbourg, the ICube laboratory has an organizational structure designed to reflect and enhance the diversity of its research.
It is composed of 4 departments, corresponding to its core disciplines:

  • Computer science
  • Imaging and robotics
  • Electronics and photonics
  • Mechanics

These departments bring together 17 research teams whose work is regularly connected through 6 transversal research themes that foster interdisciplinary collaboration.

The laboratory is also strengthened by 7 technology platforms - shared resources dedicated to experimentation, modeling, and innovation, accessible both to the academic community and to external partners.

ICube includes a wide variety of members: faculty, researchers, engineers, hospital practitioners, PhD candidates, and postdoctoral fellows.
The laboratory also welcomes internip students at all levels — from early discovery placements in middle and secondary school to master’s programs.

Its day-to-day operation is ensured by administrative, technical, and financial teams who work closely with the research teams and platforms.

ICube operates under the joint authority of the University of Strasbourg, the CNRS, INSA Strasbourg, and ENGEES. The laboratory also hosts project teams from Inria and a research team affiliated with Inserm.
It maintains close ties with the Strasbourg University Hospitals and Institute of Image-guided Surgery (IHU Strasbourg), and collaborates with innovation and technology-transfer organizations such as SATT Conectus.

ICube’s partnerships extend to numerous academic and industrial players, in France and abroad, through national, European, and international projects.
As part of its long-standing collaboration with Télécom Physique Strasbourg, an engineering school associated with the Institut Mines-Télécom, ICube is a member of the Carnot Télécom & Société Numérique isntitute.
