Title: Protocol Designing in Wireless Body Area Networks

Abstract: Recent advances in wireless communication and electronic manufacture have enabled a variety of sensors to be used for Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs). Differed from WSNs, WBANs have their own constraints on protocol designing regarding to mobility, deployment, data rate, latency and energy. In the literature, we often encounter new protocol proposals that achieve good performance in their assumptions, but other scenarios are not discussed. We think that there is a need of identification of main resources and parameters for WBAN protocols design. Therefore we propose a methodology in order to evaluate WBAN MAC and Networking protocols by separating into input, design and evaluation parts. And the resources, objectives, parameters and performance of a selected protocol can be easily shown with this methodology. We will give some examples to show the preliminary results of this model.
