Titre : Simulation of heat transfer and automatic optimization of multiple probes trajectories for pre-operative planning of percutaneous thermoablation interventions

Résumé : There exists several minimally invasive techniques to perform tumor ablation. Cryosurgery is one of these techniques which consists in decompressing very rapidly a gas (usually argon) through a needle-like probe to destroy cancerous cells. Preoperative planning of such interventions is difficult for the interventional radiologist, who needs to find a safe and efficient placement in a complicated anatomical environment and imagine the final result. Over-ablation or under ablation may result in complications during the treatment. Ablation planning systems play an important role in tumor ablation procedures. In most of available planning applications, the problem is either over simplified or too lengthy for the use in the operating room. Therefore, in this thesis we introduce an automatic planning tool solving all constraints involved in a real surgery while keeping the processing time as short as possible to be used in the operating room, to propose an optimal and realistic placement for the cryoprobes.
